Using Two Monitors on One Computer

You might question why anyone would use two monitors on one computer but there are reasons.  Known as dual computer monitors, these have a multitude.  One good reason for using dual monitors is for anyone in the photography business.  For example, photographers working on digital pictures, trying to view, study, and arrange, using dual monitors is a huge help.

With a dual computer monitor, you can indeed double work and also desktop space.  One of the most common computer monitors is the LCD.  These are aesthetically pleasing and they are very space efficient.  Therefore, one who does not have much desk space would benefit from the flat screen monitor.  Now, for people on a budget, a CRT screen is also a great choice but larger.

When it comes to using a dual pc screen, again the greatest advantage is for anyone in photography or an individual who works with graphics and digital images.  Some of the main benefits include:

Looking through a picture album, placing all pictures on one screen in thumbnail view and then viewing the pictures on a full screen on the second monitor whereby the image could be focused and manipulated.

Editing pictures is also easier by using dual computer monitors.  For example, one monitor can be used for browsing images on the internet or through some type of photo gallery and then with the second screen, photos can be edited using a special software program.

Even staying current with email is a benefit of having two screens on one pc.  For home businesses or people in corporate America, getting lots of emails is common place.  With two screens, someone could display all new emails coming in while the other can be used for other types of work.

The bottom line is that dual pc monitors have a number of purposes for home users or people in the workplace.  While the computer speed would not increase, productiveness would since the person is able to stay better organized and multi task in a way like never before.  This direction has become so preferred that it is becoming a normal part of purchasing a pc and monitor.

Today, there are a number of pcs on the market that are designed to support a dual computer monitor without having to pay extra cash or time in getting hardware set up.  Therefore, if you have a newer pc, you might already have the ability to work on two monitors on one computer.  To check, look at the back portion of the pc where you would see two VGA connectors or DVI connectors, or in some instances, both.

If your pc is not engineered with a connector for working on dual computer monitors, then you can go to a local pc or electronics store and purchase the needed parts.  For this, often times the hardware can be installed by yourself but there are times when a professional’s help is needed.
